I realized there's 2 sets of notches, one set holding the glass in place. I assumed these would be the notches to face outward, as I thought it would cause reflection into the diode if it faced inwards. However after reading this I realized why the other set of notches were there, and now I'm...

i feel like an idiot, i assumed the side with the inner notches faced outwards, but I switched it and it's infinitely better. There is now however a very faint "box" above the dot, but it's my understanding that is normal. Thank you for this!

I'm selling an a140 diode prepressed into a copper aixiz module, already soldered to a mohgasm linear driver set @ 1.3A. Also comes with 2 ultra fire 880mah 16340 batteries+charger. Very little work would be required to turn this into a 1w+ handheld, only thing missing is a host and heatsink...

Okay does this also mean the diode should be isolated from the host? I bought an anodized heatsink so I hope so..

Is this the correct wiring? I see some people bypassing gnd and instead wiring the battery - right to the diode, with the case pin going to the driver gnd.. i dont understand.

like i said, for an extra20$ ill take the risk if it means getting a finished product 10x more powerful than i'd get spending 10$ on a diode..

if it arrived already broken why not get a refund?

Just because this is my first build doesn't mean i'm electrically illiterate lol, besides I got an a140 diode for 28$, I would rather spend the extra 20$ for infinitely more power...and if I fuck up 28$ isnt really gunna hurt me

Well I did some looking around my house and I found I have a Surefire 6p flashlight laying around that easily fits 2 16340s..however since I doubt this is a very popular option I will most likely need custom machining. Who could I contact to possibly contract this job?
