I've used both here in the states. Never had any problems with either. I prefer Digi-key, but will go with mouser for some items. I highly recommend both! I've never had any shipping cost issues, it's always been near what I've estimated.
If it was only the headphone jack that broke, you should still be able to connect to the unit with a data cable and pull the information off. Do not use the SYNC function or apple software, it doesn't always work properly!
I do NOT use apple software for my sync / upload / download. I utilize...
As a past first responder (Jaws of life response truck); this video is about as graphic as can be shown without being on the scene yourself. I won't even begin to describe the scenes that I have responded to. There are two that come to mind that make the one posted by Prototype seem like a...
I tried this last week with a couple of ravens that were in my co-workers pickup truck bed digging in the trash. I was using my red laser, defocused greater than 15'. I was about 20' out and they saw the red dot on the snow and took off not to return. My co-worker was impressed and happy they...
Hmm, guess I can add to this thread as well, my background also varies:
BS in Civil Engineering, emphasis on Structural

General tinkerer &...
It's not too bad till it's about -40*, then I've gotta really worry about the truck not starting (Diesel). You get used to it as it is a really dry cold.
As for ice sculptures, I'll skip doing it with a laser, the chainsaw, iron & soldering gear works just fine for those interested. I have...
If the seller is unable to cancel the bid, you can try to go through bid retraction. I've had to do it twice when someone used my computer for their ebay purchases under my account (I log out of ebay after all sessions now). Took a couple of minutes, but was able to get all the errant bids...
I'm in the interior of Alaska. I have not been hitting the local transfer sites looking for DVD burners getting tossed as it's currently -23*F and only expected to get colder. I'll wait till spring before I start searching for them too hard.
I may play with adjusting the ebay one again later if I get another bad dvd burner to use, or a cheap diode. I don't know why the two don't work the same, I may have gotten a bad one.
I didn't raise the current higher or mess with the preset value. It was purchased for a 405 build that ended...
I'm only stating what I found when I tested it. I still have it in my parts box for a future test. It may be possible that my VOM is bad and not giving me the right readings (it is a fluke). The 325 may be too much, but turning the pot in either direction gives a much dimmer beam.
The V5...
Thanks for the review! I picked up a pair for my red build. Although they removed all of the side splatter & most of the primary dot, I can still see a red dot on the wall. I definitely won't be shining towards anything reflective, but for the price, I have to say they are worth it. They are...
Sorry the photos are not working. I must not have enough posts yet to get them operational.
Edit - Got them working by attaching and linking to the attachment. Utilizing Flickr just didn't want to work properly... Oh well.
I am still a newb to the high power laser world. I freely admit it. I welcome criticism and ideas as I continue my building experience with these particular devices. This posting is slightly long, as it contains two separate builds with one working laser as the result.
I had some time to...
