Did the thing come loose so easily because it was a cheap laser or are such things THAT fragile?
Also, how will the IR beam from the diode affect me? Can it burn my skin if I put my hand in front of it?
I don't think it can be more damaging than the original laser beam.

I used pliers and a saw, which is why the outside of the casing is scratched. I ripped out the casing.
Then, I pulled off part A and it snapped right out.
Parts B and C were loose and were the ones rattling inside.

I bought one of those high powered Class III green lasers at some bazaar for 50 bucks.
