Here you go. This is the facet facing the IR pump diode. It is a dealextreme.com 200mW module that I pot moded too far. You can clearly see the carnage. Considering the rating, these crystal sets are very small.
I blew a 100mW module the other night due to a slip with the meter probe. The IR...
I just ordered a MGL-III-532-300 300mW 532nm dual TEC lab module with 30k analog modulation from CNI. I can't wait! My projector build is slowly coming along, when I find the time to spare. Both crystals and pump diode have their own TEC.

What you are seeing is normal, there is a small amount of red from the IR led passing through. It is worse with cheaper modules.
If your unlucky enough to damage your cystals then all you will see is this dim red light....
I also believe the facet facing the pump diode can burn, I have seen this 1st hand from over-clocking (pot modding)... Just don't do it with cheap modules...
I PM'd Mario about his meter last night, he is waiting on zeroing pots from China. He has no idea when they are expected.
My guess? Soon.
I am keen also, not because it is cheep, neither Jerry or Kenom respond to my purchase inquiries and I need an LPM now. Strange.
Just wait until that company that begins with the letter following B finds out their diodes where responsible...

Don't get me wrong, the BS has subsided but at the cost of blandness.
Don't you notice the lack of good quality posts and threads?
From what I can see, this forum has lost the best members, members that had a lot to give and some that added spice. Nothing much of value for me here in the past...
2 rows of pins, the left hand on top and bottom row are a switch. Same for each switch across.
They only handle 100-500mA depending on brand and model.
