NDB7875 Winked out and I don't know why?

I don't have a lasorb. The reason I didn't get one was it's size. I didn't think a lasorb would fit inside of the 12mm host. I thought I remember reading that they had to soldered directly to the legs of the diode for them to work (ie- you can't solder it to the diode wires after they exit the...

NDB7875 Winked out and I don't know why?

I know the driver (flexmod p3) is fine because I have already moved my m140 back over to it and have been burning images with it. The image I engraved last night took 3.5 hours to engrave. So that is out. (The flexmod is made specifically for laser engraving and laser light shows. It is one...

NDB7875 Winked out and I don't know why?

I bought a NDB7875 from DTR a couple of weeks ago. I am using it for laser engraving. I needed the extra power over my M140 to speed up some of my engravings. 7875 is the 3w everyone else seems to use because of it's relatively low divergence for a 3w / 9mm. Emblazer (laserblade) uses them as...

    6 watt Nubm44 focus help

I bought a usb 500x microscope off ebay for $20. It does a pretty good job of getting close. I have tried a couple of different things. Generally I use something very thin and black to cut out the glare or I shoot onto a small piece of OD4 protection glass with something black under it to get...

Thanks, I do have 1 question. How are you measuring your beam diameter?

    6 watt Nubm44 focus help

I just don't know enough about focusing lasers or the different optics that can be used. I have been reading, I always do but everything is so scattered. I have been talking with the guys at picengrave about this. They are looking for a solution to this as well, but they are not having much luck...

ANYONE? No one knows of some better optics to get?

    6 watt Nubm44 focus help

I think the norm for engraving is around 2" from the work piece with a 3 element lens and a M140 laser or the 3 watt version. How close should we get then? At 1" i would be worried about build up on the lens even with a fan blowing the smoke away constantly. Are their any other lenses we could try?

    6 watt Nubm44 focus help

Several of us are looking to use DTR's new 6 watt diode for full gray scale engraving. The issue is with the standard lenses G2, 3 element, and J-Tech lenses can't get it focused small enough. Right now it only gets to 0.3mm / 0.012" and we need it to focus to a minimum of half that to be usable...

    M140 Safe Temp?

I was worried because everyone is using CPU heat sinks for laser engraving, which are 4x bigger than the z-bolt heat sink.

    M140 Safe Temp?

Hey I have one of DTR's 2w M140's already mounted in one of the standard copper modules. I mounted the module in one of Z-bolts heat sinks. What I don't know is, what is a safe temp measuring from the copper module? I left 1/8th of an inch of the copper module peaking out of the heat sink so I...

    Flexmod P3 Issue

Thanks for responding. I figured it out, everything is fine. I have an older bench top power supply (from the 80's). It has 12v posts, 5v, and a variable 2-20v. I was using the 12v for the flexmod and the variable for the 5v for the trigger. I didn't like that the 5v post is putting out 5.3v. My...

    Flexmod P3 Issue

I am trying to get my Flexmod P3 (Interlock) setup for my laser engraver. I have 2w M140 from DTR. The issue I am having is the FM goes into protection mode if I go over 1A. I am using a dummy test load 6 diodes and 2w 1ohm resistor. I am measuring mv across the resistor to get the ma. I am...

    Laser Engraver Driver Help

Ok very cool news. I was wrong about proto-advantage. I was looking to see if they sold the max5451 chip already soldered to a board and they don't but they will add any chip to an adapter for you. The pic engrave give any info about the process of getting the chip soldered from them. They will...
