I have stripped down an old laser to see if it could be modded by turning up the screw, but there isnt one... :-? Anyone know if i can do anything to make it more powerfull? P.S I dont care if it breaks. ;D

Well i think i will bite the bullet and go with sandstone. I am waiting to hear back from her with regards to high powered pointers. She offered me a 100mW for $84 delivered, which is pretty cheap! Are there any differences between pen style lasers and torch style ones, other than their appearance?

Those nova's seem rather expensive, but then i suppose you get what you pay for. Im into car audio, and its pretty much the same i think. Overrated power figures just draw in newbies (like me in this case). Sandstone has offered me anything upto 500mW, and they all seem pretty affordable too...

I appreciate what you're saying reverie, but i am a 20 year old architect. Im not going to try and bring down planes/helicopters/animals etc... I feel that rather than forking out for a small powered laser, then upgrading, i may aswell go for a good quality one, that im not going to get bored...
