So when we're trying to get Theoretical Maximum Power for Portable Laser you could get a backpack with a car battery, a heat exchanger and a tube for the liquid cooled handheld unit and prepare to BBQ. Talk about Ghost Busters
Alright, the thing now has a battery holder (20mm PVC tube) and the 30mW module switch has been bypassed and a spring attached.
The brass part of the laser module is going to protrude out of the top of the housing, so I'm having a hard time figuring a way to mount a heatsink in it. I tried...

So this is what I have, a 30mW 532nm module rescued and resoldered from a dead driver, and an old infrared flashlight housing. I think it would make a great housing for the module, but i've ran into some problems:
The flashlight case has a switch in the bottom, which...
Try using a signal generator and output a sine wave at about 40Hz and then crank up the volume from the amp until the arm starts to move. That way you won't blow the thing right up with your super duper amp 9000 :)
The subwoofer amp I used has an integral bandpass filter so it won't play...
I think I know what you mean. I still would prefer using standard thermal paste, though, as I might want to replace the module in near future. Is that ok?
An update folks!
The 30mW laser module has found a new home. I mounted the thing inside an old cable modem and it seems the standard threaded cable connector is about the same size as the diameter of the DX laser module. Hooray!
Now the only problem is the thing overheating when it's on. It...
Thanks for the compliment. I actually have a one-mirror spirograph ready, with a mirror superglued into an angle on top of a 12V dc fan. But I can't take any pictures right now as I don't have a working laser module. Adjusting the width of the scan beam and making it hit the spinning mirror is...
Overview:
I started this project about two weeks ago. Got VERY interested in lasers after attending an awesome rave and so here is the first prototype of my horizontal audio controlled scanner. The case is currently very low-tech, it's made out of cardboard and cut toilet paper rolls, stitched...
