New Sharp 500mw blu-ray

I checked around and couldn't find anyone else who posted this, so here Blu-ray.com - Sharp Readies BD-100 Blu-ray Laser

If it's meant to operate at 500mw, then I'm assuming we could push it a lot further.

at this juncture everyone here's presuming that the new diode is of standard form factor and fits in AixiZ. This may well not be the case if it's made using a different process.

I am sure that was "temperature controlled" at 80 degrees.

Also, they were working on both a 5.6mm package (like we use now) and a 3.8mm package. I think we will be able to adapt

I hope to be one of the experimenters with this diode. Anyone have an estimate of a release date? a year or two eh?

Watch the BDA (Blu Disc Assoc) for approval of the three-layer and four-layer format. This won't go into mass production until the format is approved.

blu-ray will probably go down the multi layer path soon. We could see 4 layers or even 6 layers disc soon.

Multi layered discs will require higher powered lasers, as they would have to penetrate deeper into the disc. But then again, perhaps multi layered discs may not be writable with home computer equipment.

omggggggggg!!! 500mw is good! not to mention the thing it does with storage!! waheheehe i will save for this one.. so when it is released i will grab 2 of these... one for a laser project one for personal use wahehehhee
