I have repurposed this $100 host (310 model 200mw 532nm) from XPL. I spent a few hours tinkering with different approaches. Between the facial gestures and the right combination of cussing at this thing I found my way. First step was to see if the spring connection pot could handle my solder skills. Yeah no sweat first try, some flux and everything held together. The anodizing on the host made things difficult. I found a good spot to secure the negative. So now I have power. I ended up sacrificing an old box mod and ripped the 510 connector out. I secured 2 nylon washers and the negative solder contact collar to the bottom of the 510 assembly and wired it up. I carefully jammed this into the section of the host till it bottomed out where the threading stops and ID narrows. A few more swipes with the soldering iron and done. A few checks and test. PHOTONS! I look at the clock and its 3:45 am. :tired:
Pics incoming.

It can take 1 18650 or 2 18350. Nice side clicky.

Nice job dden. Turning trash into treasure. Looks quite nice with a laser module!

+rep!

That's pretty nice. I haven't seen the digital display unit before. What is its purpose and where did you get ti?

^ Also wondering this, nice job on the build too. :D

I can't help but asking, how did you turn that DeWalt blower into a fogger?

That's a 3:45 in the morning build! Imagine what you can to in the daytime! Excellent job ! Thanks for sharing

If you look to the right of the blower there is a vaping box mod. If I just vapes it the vapor would go to the ground and not disperse since it pulls the moisture from the air and cools. If your not a nicotine addict you can get straight vegetable glycerin, a cheap box mod, a cheap rda, a few pre wrapped coils, cotton ball, and go to town. Any high volume inflator or portable fan would work to disperse. Macgyver it out.

^ this. If you are burning, or just using glycerin to cloud the air, the amount of contaminants might be hard on the optics of a high power laser. The lenses could be deposited with these contaminants and burned into the glass.

Interesting. What do you suggest for making fog? And the lasers were under 300mw. I took one of my high power 520's out to the beach last night and was concerned about the salt harming the AR coating.

I would suggest a water vapor producer. Not to be confused with steam, which is actually gaseous water, vapor is tiny water droplets that can be produced without heat and gives a nice semi-cloud-like environment that the beam can be reflected off, but leaves no contaminates to stick to optics.
