Hello fellow laser people!

Since very heavy hosts are completely awesome I thought maybe I could get a solid gold host but because that would be way to expensive, could it be possible to create a host made of lead(as in Pb element)?

(btw lead is sort of toxic so maybe it could be coated with something)

Anyways, would it be possible to make a Lead host? what other cheap heavy materials exist which could have a host made out of it?

Thanks for you're time!

I want one made of depleted Uranium but that stuff probably isn't readily available. Now that would be heavy.

Is it even possible for one of the machinists from this forums to making a host out of lead?

Lead is really soft, you can peel bits off with your fingernail. So it is a really bad host material, besides it's sub par thermal properties.

If you are looking for something dense (heavy) that will not kill you I might recommend the following.

Silver has about the density, but it is pricy. Copper and brass are pretty close in density and are cheaper, besides there are a few machinists around here that are already selling copper and brass hosts!

I would think so, lead is a very soft metal and also has a low melting point, if they can't machine it then someone can cast it and do some minor machining on it. It would certainly be an unusual host.

Who would want to machine lead though? Lead particles would be flying everywhere and it's really toxic. There's not enough money you could pay me to do that.

I guess your right, melting it and casting something out of it is easy but making a bunch of lead dust would be a problem. I think the best solution would be to just go with a larger host made of some ordinary metal like copper or steel etc.

One question, why?

You didn't answer ARG's question. :)

I'd think if you want a heavy and practice host, get one of the machinists here to make you a custom copper hosts. similar to sinners Cypreus-II XL host, just make it wider and especially think on the "walls" for the battery.

I said I wanted a very heavy case because the heavy feel feels awesome. And I asked you guys about it beacause I don't know much about machining. so know I know machining lead is not worth it :) thx to
all for replying

You know what is very dense? Batteries. Have someone make you a host that uses two 32650's and that will make it pretty hefty.

My Laserglow Hercules is pretty damn heavy. It uses 3 D-cell batteries and is like 1.5 kg with batteries included. The price is kinda high though. Anyways, how heavy do you want your host to be?
