I was browsing ebay a while back and found a really cheap LED Pen. I thought it looked cool and for the price I decided to grab it. Turns out it was perfect without the module back piece. The white piece was part of the LED pen. I ran a wire through it and attached a small spring I had from another project. I could have used a larger one that was with the LED pen but I liked the little one I had better. I cut the larger spring that came with the pen and used it for a negative case contact and followed up with heatshrink tube. It fit in like a glove, with a small bit a force. II added a red hair tie to fill the gap on the tip.

I have yet to test it. I need to find the AAA size 4.2v battery. I think its the 10440. I see no reason as to why it wouldn't work. I'll update once I very it works.

Thanks to 10fenny for the module!
This module was in a m&m's mini's container as a host prior. It was garbage. It worked well though... Until it didn't.

Hi Trend,
Nice build the ground from the case pin to the driver could be shortened a bit so it won't snag in the host. the last pic did you do that build yet ,i seen that pen and was wondering how it would workout. I build my pens with the defiant pen it's fool proof and easy to work with. check out my defiant build. Can't wait to see results

Well I just got back from Batteries Plus Bulbs... The replacement 10440 battery they had (Tenergy brand 330mah 3.7v) had the same issue the first one did. It would not charge and kept giving an interrupt on both my charger as well as the supposedly $5,000.00 charger they have there at batteries plus that "should charge any rechargeable battery". I guess I am going to have to find a place to order some Efest 10440's. I'm taking suggestions if anyone knows a reputable vendor or has any info on 10440's that I need to know. I assume I can use my same charger for my 18650's for 10440's, both Li-Ion.

Sad news, When I took the module back out of the host I broke the negative wire off the driver. I was able to get the epoxy off and I'll need to re-solder it back on. I've not had to solder to pads too often. I wish this driver had the through hole kind and not the pad... meh oh well, I'm pretty sure I can do it. I have a decent variable iron. I ordered 2 flat top efest batteries and priority mail 2 day shipped then for a total of ~13.00. I'll update the thread once I get a chance. My wife should be having our second child (girl) within the next 2 days... so you may not see me here for a while. I promise I will update as soon as reasonably possible.

You called it buddy, you called it... Now I get to fix the negative terminal. I've repped you too much or I would again. Such good advice.
