Will do bobby! Actually, you could build this for yourself with no assembly required, other than to screw the module/adapter piece (see DTR's store) on to the front of the "Maraxus" mech. mod clone host (available for $20~$30 on ebay, and many chinese sellers such as fasttech etc.).

I'm new to this but if you can build one like this for me I got the money for you

bobby, Bowtieguy is totally serious when he says you just buy the DTR module already built with the diode you want, buy the mod and the correct batteries and just put batteries into the mod and screw on the adapter and that's it. Really couldn't get much simpler. You could have everything you need by the end of the week if you ordered the stuff now.

How much does this cost?

bobby, you could build this exact laser for no more than $265, possibly for $250, depending on the Maraxus and battery prices.

Built 7 650nm LPC-826 that hit over 400mW if you use a G-2 into Altoids type boxes and I don't think I've seen a Sucrets one yet. There's an all silver tin and all gold tin that are on the ends that got cut off also:

Haven't seen an Altoids build in one of these cans yet. The interior working
space is very small, just big enough for all the parts.

This is still a work in progress...working on it today as a matter of fact.
This build will hold 2x16340 or 2xCR123, or 1x with a dummy batt.

The case...




Battery and module holes from inside (I'm not finished molding the battery compartment yet, one more epoxy pour, and
fix the positive spring in the bottom, and it'll be done). I wrapped 3-4 layers of paper around an actual 16340 for
the epoxy pour, then drilled the 15/32" module hole on a drill press after epoxy was set well.




Outside with module fitted in place (there will be a 4-40 set screw, probably on the small side, for module retention.)




Inside, one battery and module fitted in place (batt is not in the correct
orientation, just in there for photo purpose)




Inside, momentary switch fitted in place.

Hope y'all like it! I'll be sure to update this post with the finished product all lit up and everything.

That's a nice looking Altoids tin build Gadget, good job! That looks like it's about the same size as the Eclipse tin that I built (small).
I may have missed reading it, but what diode are you putting in it?
The epoxy idea is great.

Not a host, but an unusual beam expander, 160X with a Jetlasers 532nm pointer on it, together it's unusual.



Lots of sticker residue and tape I need to clean off of it soon, otherwise perfect.

Wow that thing is huge, I saw the other photo but that was without the laser, I had no idea of the size of that thing. You just need to find a way to put it on a tripod like a telescope.

Alcohol dissolves the adhesives used in tape and stickers, just wet a towel with it and that residue will wipe right off.

I've used Isopropanol in the past to remove residue from stickers, but I find it works best if above 90% for me, 99+ like is used for fiber optics even better. Maybe some other commercial solvent will work too, like Goo Gone or OOPS! but at the same time, I'm wondering if those might remove coating from the optics, I better cover them well before using it, if I use one of those, I know they work very fast, faster than Isopropanol.

I was looking at the beam profile coming out of my CNI 4 watt 532nm laser tonight and found it is somewhat oval shaped and maybe 4 or 5 mm wide, so unfortunately I cannot use this expander with it unless I put some other optics inline to reduce the diameter of it's output. Everything is sloppy trying to interface the optics to my lasers, tape just doesn't do well but good enough to try it out with.

Yea, it is entirely too bulky and heavy for arm-held use, I need to get something rigged up for it so I don't have to hold it.

I'm thinking a PL450B at 200mA. I don't wanna go too big and have a 2 second duty cycle. I've also got the Wintergreen can that's gonna get a PL520.

Yesterday while we were at Movie Trading Company, I found the ultimate tin to build a laser into. This tin I'm positive I've never seen a build in.

It's...a...FREAKIN'...DEATHSTAR!!

It's probably gonna get an LPC-826 red. It's about the size of a racquet ball (~2-3/16").
