I think mine would have to be the 5W 465nm Photino, both because of the host and the crazy power to size ratio, but also the rarity of the diode (I don't think it has been used in other builds yet).

That's a fake, right ? Maybe a well done Photoshop joke. If this unit is real, i would love to learn more precise details about it.

Nice build Javalin! It looks a bit retro, like a Buck Rogers ray gun, I like it!

Thanks, speaking of ray guns... this ought to qualify for this thread.

The smallest raygun I've seen yet.

Guess this thread is a little old but I can finally qualify for it I think!

The host was built by another member, Gadget, and it holds an 07E at 3.5A. It's big and heavy and exactly the way I like it:D

Good looking laser Ldb, Gadget did a great job on that host!
As long as you have something unique, you can post here anytime. This thread needed a bump anyway! :D

I thought I'd post a few pics of a project that I've been working on for Len (Hakzaw); it was originally a black painted, solid brass unit that used a really small battery (14250ish?).
Len sent me a couple of these hosts to try and make a laser that could accomodate a larger, more usable cell.
I ended up combining parts from two hosts, and modifying most of the other parts to build this one laser.

Note: I will be making a more detailed build thread on this later this week, but for now, here are a few photos of it.

As originally received. Parts are from two individual hosts, top row is one host, bottom is the other, just flipped 180° to show both ends.

Almost done! I'm using an Opnext/Oclaro 120mW single mode 638nm diode/module from DTR for this build. :)

Was this unit a custom made one or is there a place where I can find one as well? :D

Ldb, from what I gathered from Len, this was originally a production laser, in the black painted shorter style in the first pic., also, it is no longer available.
The last two pics are a custom host made by me, from parts of the originals.

@GSS - It is using a 14500 cell now , the host is very thick walled, which gives it it's very nice hefty feel, but doesn't leave much room for a larger cell.

Looks really sharp Jeff. 14500 is plenty for that diode. I've made some interesting hosts mixing/matching from leftover parts. I always keep the stuff I don't use as you never know when you will find something else that makes it all come together.

By the way, it's never too late to add to this thread. I think most forget it's even here and we need to remind them. +rep to those I could;) I'm trying to think of anything I could add to it myself because I forgot about it too and I made the thread.

Very nice builds everyone! I have been plotting some new unique build nobody has seen yet before, but it will take some time.

astralist, that is one stunningly beautiful host, definitely a keeper; I love it!
I could see a real market for something like this if you ever decided to produce these!
