Hey guys its been a good while and wanted to let you all know we are still making forward progress just slower than we hoped. Last week we drove up to my mates storage unit up state and brought home his CNC designed for making wax castings for jewelry. We had to reboot the software which also took some time to get a copy of it but now we have our hands on it and have rebooted the software. Next we need to make a place in my garage to set up the CNC and start programing the file.

We decided casting is the only way to make this project a reality. The amount of machining added to the 5 axis machines needed was making quotes of anywhere between $5000-$10,000 for a proptype then huge number for a min order. Casting we should be able to get done at a fraction of the cost and have found a foundry that casts in Al and Cu, although we are leaning more towards aluminium for various reasons now.

So there you have it. This project is still very much underway and progress is being made we just have limited free time and for me the GB has been taking most of that up the past couple weeks. I can't wait to see the wax host and when we have that I will post pics.

Wow....what an amazing host. I'd buy 1 maybe 2.

I just wanted to throw this out there, I am a chemical compounder with specific knowledge in the manufacturing of specialty grinding/polishing/buffing creams as well a liquids. I am positive with the correct materials which I have in stock....Calcined Alumina, Kaolin, and Jewelers Rouge that a perfectly smooth finish can be obtained on the metal and epoxy alike. the trick is to use at least a 3 step process starting with the roughest of course.

PM me if you would like a sample of the finishing step. It is my own unique formulation which has been tested time and time again. It will put almost a mirror finish on heavily oxidized copper or aluminum in about 10 seconds of hand polishing. With a handheld or bench mounted buffer the results are amazing!
