Okay, so there are a number of cheap 301 host kits lying around on ebay. These are quite nice hosts when you remove the the battery extension. Would it be possible to strip the anodizing on these hosts? I like the hosts but I am bored of the black anodizing. I'm also interested in replacing the keyswitch with a clicky switch, as these keys aren't very durable (they bend) and irritating to use.
If someone doesn't know what I am talking about, look at this: DIY Test Laser Torcstlye Hosts for 12x60mm Laser Module | eBay

I wanted to do the same thing, to strip the anodizing off of an aluminium flashlight. My pal Nute showed me that you can put them in a bath of sodium hydroxide, so just drain cleaner, and it can strip off all the anodizing. You just have to take out all components from inside the host, like the key interlock in the tailcap if you can. It worked somewhat well for me, but that's probably because when I did it it was -30 outside and that slowed down the reaction. Pm him for more details if you go with this, as I'm sure there are details that I could never remember. Good luck :)
