So I thought I'd give a bit of time to my lathe, as one does, and started going at this piece of scrap stock. I had the idea of making a very small laser host out of it, here's how it turned out:

Excuse the rough edges, I didn't put in the effort to fix it up quite yet. But as of now the most critical thing I need to worry about is the fact that this thing doesn't have a tailcap yet, I threaded the host for one but when it came to actually making it I realized I didn't have any switches small enough for it. Here's the end of the host, it takes 1*10440 battery (AAA form factor), and a DTR module (Someone mentioned a while back ago that a 15/32" drill bit makes a perfect fit, and they were absolutely right. Thanks to whoever that was ):

Here's how small this guy really is:

Compared to 18650 battery

Measurements (mm):

Also forgot to capture it, but the handle measures an OD of 16mm

This is my first custom host, let me know what you think and tell me if you see something I can improve, I would appreciate it :thanks:

Nice, that sure is a tiny one but didn't realize how small till you put next to the 18650.
What switch do you have in mind with the inner threading on the host?

Indeed, it really is hard to tell the scale or size of something when there's nothing else in frame to compare it to. About the switch, I was hoping to put a on/off clicky in the tail cap but the smallest one there is is almost twice the size of the handle diameter. I'll have to search around at some other electronic stores and see what I can find, but worst case scenario would be I use a momentary switch on the tail cap which honestly I wouldn't mind for a host this small.

Nice! Seeing it on end reminds me of those screw on door lock rod toppers. For old cars that still had lock rods that came out of the top of the door panel. :p

I think a little thicker handle for more battery would be worth it.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Definitely, as of now I only have the equipment for an 18650 bay and a 10440 bay. I would've loved to be able to put a 14500 in there for more power.
