I would like to see some hosts that utiliz the 35mm cu modules. Those things are heat sponges and heavy, giving a host substance.

Unfortunately, there will be a bigger delay since I need to buy one from DTR before I can finalize the host.That's an easy shape. Wouldn't be hard to make something similar at all. What did you put in that?

only recharge circuit, battery, LED and button. I really like the grips on it too.*hint hint nudge nudge* might be needing a nice host for a nice 5w diode

I'm a complete noob here but I'll give my impressions. Almost 60 yo so maybe that says something too. Stumbled on Ehgemus's hosts and nothing comes close to equaling those. I'd pay more for those works of art! The aluminum/copper hosts stood out for me. The hosts Sanwu produces are a distant second but second none the less. I tend to like the tail cap clicky but it's not a huge big deal. Incorporate a nice copper heat sink. The black flashlight looking hosts do nothing for me. I do hope you come out with some new innovative hosts that readily accept quality modules. I'll learn how to build!

Thanks for the input David. I think my focus for the time being is going to be on function over form, so I'm probably not going to make anything that's as flashy or stylish as what Ehgemus made. Definitely want to make some unique stuff though. Personally, I'm looking to maximize heatsinking.

I vote for something like this:
It doesn't have to be as complex as the one above.
Outer shell of anodized aluminium, copper core in which module can be fitted (without set screw, either glued in or held in place with a ring or something similar), master switch on tailcap, side switch.
Assault crown, and some kind of simple focusing mechanism (made in such a way so that the force acting on module is minimized).
Grooves where the heatsink is, and optional knurling.
Enough room for proper driver sinking.
Above everything else, it has to be easily disassembled.
Optional: room for 2x26650 or 2x18650 or single 26650 or 18650 (extension tube?); led backlit side button, indicator LEDs, power input jack on the opposite side of the side switch, so that the laser can be run on AC with an adapter.
This is just my idea of a larger sized host, for powerful diodes. Smaller, pocket sized hosts should also be available.

Remote shaped? Yes or even rectangular.
I would like to have the heat sink portion that holds the driver and module with room for optics on top of the battery compartment, that way the build is not so long, the expander I would add myself. I need 3 x 18650's or 3 x 26650's, people wanting 2 could just add a dummy/jumper cell.

Okay guys, I lost my lead on the CNCs. I'm thinking I might still be able to get a mill though.

Would you be interested in 3D printed hosts? I can do a quality 3D printed host for the 35mm copper modules so there's still some heatsinking. Yes, it'd be plastic (ABS), but I figured there might be a chance for a bit of interest. Obviously, I could sell it wired up for a lot less than a custom metal host.

I'd like a host with a key switch, momentary button, and an iris/shutter.
An LED to indicate it was on would be nice, or if the button had a built in LED to indicate the key switch was activated.

Hello all, first post! But i hope you may still consider my opinion.
I like simple and sleek. Im not a big fan of the Flashlight looking bulk as the head. Just maybe not much bigger than the handle and heat sink.
Definitely would Love to see LED indicator lights.
Multiple head attachments that can replace and fit a flash light head. Or different lenses.
Minimum atleast an single 18650. With battery extension options to fit more or bigger sizes like 26650.
In the end. Ideally would like it to be modular/adaptable and easy to disassembe, sleek and funtional. To make things easier and stream line. Thanks!

Awesome, im actually planning on getting one of those 510 module adapters myself.. However im trying my hardest to find a tail cap that can fit those mechanical mods so that i have the ability to have it stay on or turned off with a flick of a switch..
Momentary is def a cool feature but id like to find a solution to this issue as ideally i would like to walk away from the laser pointer to be able to get a different perspective and get beams shots from a tripod. If anyone out there can find a solution i will be forever grateful!!

You could use the clamps on a tripod like sanwu's to hold down the momentary switch, that's what I do. Or, you could tape the button down to have it stay on. I think clamping it is the best option though.
