I'm debating if I should polish it, what do you guys recommend?

You will have problems keeping the bare aluminum clean looking. Any greasy fingerprints will leave marks in the aluminum that won't come out.
No idea on how to prevent this other than keeping it polished.

I have de-anodized and polished several hosts with great results.
I use Draino Max Gel. Takes 20 minutes!

Thanks for the advise!

If you really like the satin look finish that the de-anodizing gives, you could spray it with a light coat of a "matte", or satin finish lacquer. It won't put any shine on it, and will make cleaning easier.
I also like the satin look; it gives a collection some variety. :)

Nice One Dude, my anodizing is getting a bit worn on my c6, I might consider deanodizing, what is the cleaners that everyone uses made up of? some solvent base or? I have acetone and MEK solvent which I use all the time to clean stuborn things with(until I melt plastics and make things worse etc) do u thing they will remove the anodizing?

Well if you wish to deanodize your c6 its pretty simple Even a thirteen year old (such as my self) can do it! I used "Greased Lightening" but you may use other cleaners! I simply poured the cleaner into a decent sized cup, then put the part(s) into the solution and waited for 10-15 min and wiped off the anodizing.

I think the the main "Ingredient" is Sodium Hydroxide but I'm probably wrong, either way pure Sodium Hydroxide will work but be careful because it is Caustic.

You're only thirteen and you sure know what you're doing! +1

Good job on the de-anodizing, love the matte finish. I'd keep it that way, polished aluminium attracts too many fingerprints.

Sodium hydroxide is the active ingredient and lye will be its powdered form.

Thanks man! It means a lot!

Wow. Very nice. I've bought deanodized lasers from a known builder and in the cracks there was still anodization that he left. You could give him a lesson on properly doing it.
Great job.

you sure know what your doing for a young fellow! i guess the builder who didnt get the anodizing off from the cracks(as mentioned above) rubbed the solution with a rag or something where you have submerged it, just a guess..
oh btw at 13 you might find it hard to buy full builds until your 18, but youve probably got the skills to complete your own builds anyway i would say,

Sodium Hydroxide? Same stuff used for developing photosensitive boards? I may have some left, I might give this a try :)
