Ordered Wednesday, it came in today, 2 days from transaction to my hands. Quite easily the fastest and most painless online transaction I've ever performed.

I haven't even ordered the 22nm heat sink or a diode to go with it yet. I'll be bothering DTR for one in the future. :p

Here's pictures of the packaging it came in:

Apologies for the second un-focused image, the body itself:

The body is real carbon fiber, something I haven't quite seen before. I've seen and have carbon fiber wrap which isn't the actual thing, but this is the real material. However this by far is my favourite feature of this "host"!:

I love the LED function and colour, it also has a built in lock mechanism; if you click the button 5 times it will lock and all inputs will be ignored except for the unlock sequence, which is pressing it 5 times again. The button is momentary.

Here's the picture RCB posted with the 22mm module from DTR:

I made one with the Aspire and DTR's 22mm modules. I really like that lock feature which essentially functions as a clicky ON/OFF tailcap switch. I prefer having ON/OFF control for hosts with momentary switches - safer that way.

Note that the Aspire has its own electronics to keep a steady 4.2V at its output so it runs on just one Li-Ion battery, not two. I wanted a 520nm diode in a 22mm module from DTR which meant I needed a boost driver instead of buck due to the Aspire electronics. So DTR custom made one for me using the 700mW 520nm diode but limited it to 500mW for thermal considerations. It is still plenty bright and the carbon fiber design looks great. I posted the results here.

I paid $45 locally to get my Aspire a few months ago (Jan). You found a great deal.

Oh nice! Just looked at the thread, you've got some good results there. I love the electronics in the battery mod, it's very nicely crafted. :)

Re: Sweet deal on Aspire CF Mod!

WOW that is cool. The side button is nice and it's coded too.

DTR has those 22 modules fully built or as blanks so I can put my BDR-209 into that setup in the blue carbon fiber.

Oh and that single mode nichia in the Green one.

Hehehe here they are CLICK ME, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO

----------------------------------------edit----------------------------------

Ok I got one, delivery by Friday.
Now I order a head from DTR and I know it will be here by Friday.

I got this one HERE

Next time a blue one. These are sub ohm good for 30 watts, that's plenty.

Thanks for the feedback RC, and if you think it looks really good just from the pics its even better IRL. I fell in love with the real carbon fiber. I'm thinking of putting an m140 in it, but I'm still looking around. It's gonna be 445nm though, I'm already working on 2 532nm projects and I've got a 800mW 520nm, switching gears to blue :D My end goal is to have one of those badass 5W 465nm's though... But that's for a day far in the future!

Nice price you got for it too, you won't regret it at all, especially for a great price!

Got me interested again. My black one goes well with my car. :yh:

Sorry for the blurry picture, I'll have to read up on how to keep the button always lit up so I can take a better picture. Just bought a red one. He's got one left.

Just picked me up a black one for $20 shipped! And there's more at that price on ebay! Just put "cf mod" in the search.

Re: Sweet deal on Aspire CF Mod!

We should start a mod group, I have a practically new 1w 445 with the flexdrive and also want to do a single mode 515 and a single mode 638 would look good too, those panzer mods are nice, but the CF light up button and carbon fiber was too cool to pass up.

Glad to see all the inspiration coming from this thread, I feel like this is going to be a new option for people who want more host options! :D

Re: Sweet deal on Aspire CF Mod!

I love to have one of those mods with one of the 6 watt nichia diodes in a dtr can but your talking 350 bucks or more and just not in my budget right now or any time soon but they look great

I don't think you'd be able to put 6 watts in this, at least without having the worst duty cycle ever. These could probably hold max of around 2-3 watts depending on the diode with an okay run time, and you would also have to try to get the DTR module to thermally conduct onto the battery bay as best you could to have optimal thermals.
