While we are on the topic, gentlemen, should I run the sensor lead + to the DMM's 10A max port, or will the 400mA port work? This is assuming I am measuring lasers above 1W.

Thanks all for the help and cheering. I have the switch in. Pics to come.

The DMM should be in the voltage mode. The Ampere port 10A or 400mA doesn't apply here.

I just noticed the image there is wrong :shhh:

Yeah, put it in volts mode. the Amp mode will blow your Ophir head sky high.

No...dag nabit! UPS used the massive storms and tornadoes we had in the area as an excuse to reschedule it tomorrow. "Emergency conditions beyond UPS' control" my ass!

I'm not an unreasonable man. Their depot in Mesquite, TX is nowhere near where the tornadoes hit! Funny...I didn't see any news reports today, discussing the tragedy that struck UPS...come on!

Yeah, boredom does a lot to get prepared for such things.

I was struck with my noobness today when I was doing DMM checks on the PS box leads. I tested the Vout banana jacks on the box and the switch worked fine @ 19.3V reading. So, I flipped the switch..nothing, of course. Then, I checked V at the V+ banana jack and the common ground jack, and was surprised to read 9.6V. Well, duh...with the common ground tying the - on one 9V and the + on the other, and measuring voltage on the + side of that battery, through the jack, I was, of course, completing a circuit which included one battery. (Ya just have to put some thought into it)
As the Ophir is not using the common ground as a power source, it's of little concern, considering no circuit is being completed.

I'm saying these things as much as an explanation to myself as anything..

So how is your ophir? I saw that you already tested your spada Verdi, just wondering how you like it. Have you tested all your other lasers?

Today I did a test on my data logging DMM to see how easy or difficult it actually was to transfer the data to the PC and to make a graph out of it, well it took me all night to learn now to do it but I am set to go. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to make such a nice graph as with the laserbee...
I will have to practice more.

Norbyx, I love the Ophir! Though, it's so much smaller than I imagined after seeing pictures.
I had to modify my PS box and put in a DPDT switch and wired to to the batteries' leads.
I'll post pics here, later today when I get to work.
Good luck w/ your DL on your DMM and getting it to work. I might consider that option, if a good DMM with datalogging wasn't as much as an ARGMeter! lol

I shall wait and see with my own eyes... It doesn't look all that small...

Those Ophirs are small!!! I just want to pet it! :p I just woke up so pardon my crazy. I think I am going to sell my LaserBee A and use that money plus some extra to buy an Ophir.

PS - off topic but I recently reread the thread "naming your lasers" and saw where you claimed Firefly. You still want it? I can come up with another name for my gas laser.

Well, I was gonna use Firefly for an MS V5 with a 30mw 515nm. But, if you want to name your gas one that, by all means. I chose Balrog for a 1W 638nm build though! Lol

Man, it's a bad week for LaserBee. Norbyx is selling his after just a couple of weeks for an Ophir.
