Default Laserbee 3.7W USB Driver Issues

So I just received my Laserbee 3.7W USB, and I was so incredibly excited to finally get to measure my lasers with my own LPM, rather than driving across the US or shipping them off. Well, 2 hours in, I am incredibly frustrated. Upon installing the correct driver to my Windows 7 64-bit machine, I am informed by Windows that the driver that came on the CD is not digitally signed. I have searched and downloaded until I want to burn a hole straight through my computer(or the Laserbee). Nothing is working. This issue makes it so that the Comm Port menu within the Laserbee interface does not have anything to select. I am about to jump into the world of running a virtual machine, of which I know nothing about, just to attempt to get this thing working. If this doesn't work, I will be using Peregrine, I guess. I would really rather use the software that came with it, though. Anyone got any suggestions? Or calming words? Lol.

Found a workaround. After 4 or 5 hours of Googling my heart out. Lol. In case anyone else ever comes across this issue, I pressed F8 repeatedly during boot to bring up the advanced boot menu. I then disabled driver signature enforcement from this menu. After booting, it worked properly. Maybe my...ordeal...will help someone in the future. Haha.

Glad to hear you got it working. I couldn't imagine not having a LPM. Nice to know how much power is really being produced. Being a Luddite I have the AX model.

Anyone recommend a good laser measuring device? I would like to get a laserbee but google is giving me strange results. Thanks. I have a 2.7 watt arcane 2.0 445nm and want to measure future lasers when I go the diy laser building route.

Depends on how high you anticipate going when you do build. The Laserbee 3.7W USB is a decent option if you don't think you'll go any higher than that. Though I would keep an eye out on ebay for any Ophir LPMs that happen to show up for around the same price. Just make sure they're still accurate. If you plan on going over 3.7W, I would go ahead and start checking ebay regularly for an Ophir. Laserbee makes a 7 watt LPM, but you could find a higher capacity Ophir unit for the price Laserbee is asking. I got a very accurate 10W Ophir LPM ready to go for almost 1/3 the price of the 7w Laserbee. I actually paid less for it than my Laserbee 3.7W USB, and I hardly use the Laserbee anymore. Only when I want to send a graph of the power to a customer.

Thanks so much for the info. Looks like I'm getting myself a ophir LPM. I hope I can find it at the price you were able to get since I'm going to be building up to 10 watts in my diy lasers. Can you hook the ophir to a pc? Or is that a feature that the laserbee has itself?
