What do you mean by divided into 16ths? Are you using 1/16th of the 10x10cm piece for the experiment? Or are you stacking them together.....? Or....? (well, I won't advise stacking them of course, since there'll be air gaps which will cause problems)

As for specific heat, we won't need to use that if we use steady-state temperature. The specific heat capacity will only make a difference in the response time of the material.

i used 1/16th of the foil i measured. just because it would be impossible to weigh on my digis. just a way to estimate how much material there is in the sample.

i just gave that other thread a full viewing; its very good and right what this one is working towards.

inches and farenheit are not freindly to most of the world, and very unscientific. i really wish the world would stick to SI units, the only time inches should be used is measuring genitals, ounces should only be used for weighing pot, and farenhiet (cant even spell it) should only be refered to in ...451. still a good book.

i want to continue on a parallel path and compare results at the end, in new money, rather than just convert to metric.
another issue is that all foil is different thickness so i would rather go by weight, even if it needs dividing down like i did.

the op really put some work into that thread, glad i got to see it.
so far Tw15t3r has put in most of the brainpower behind this thread, im happy working with the scissors and string. the goal is to standardise the materials, tech, and simplify the math into a nice little online calculator.

i will do some more testing later if i get the chance, now im juggling some new radio repeater software, embedded programming, and moving 2 tonnes firewood.

Preparing for the winter already?

Ah, I get what you mean now. Yeah I was wondering why you're doing 1/16th of the foil. Ok, so it sounds good! Take your time. Once you get the results out, I'll see what I can do to crunch the math. If you could, get some nice matt black paint too. It'll do waaay better than a marker. Markers tend to leave a gloss finish.

getting ready for winter for sure. gets a lot colder here! also the price goes up if i wait.
i seem to remember having some black firepaint but not found it yet. we use it on the woodburners and its good to 400c and matt black as ever you saw.
if it dont turn up i bet the neighbours got some. i also found some uk 1/2" copper pipe so i can replicate the other threads tech exactly.
