Re: Add datalogging to any LPM

The boards are about 3 weeks away, the Ophir ones have a mistake on them, so those wont be available. :banghead:

The regular boards can still be used with an Ophir though, it just wont have the +9V/-9V from one battery feature.

Won't be avilable at all or in the timeframe you first thought?

Just in the time frame I thought. I can fix them up and get them fabricated with another board.

Awesome. I am in either way but just wanted a little clarification.

I just got my OPHIR in the mail. I can't wait. I will have to hook it up to the VOM just to play with.

I can tell those that are interested, the data input module that ARGLASER has built, definitely works well. :)

Very interested , adding it into my ophir head would be my goal!

The data board should work well for your needs. I hooked the data board up to my ophir head and played around with it last night and you can see the graph in my post above.

The new boards are in! These are now officially for sale. The schematic and board will be released later with the ARGLPM project. :)

Great project! I would love to add this to my own LPMs. How do we order these from you when we're ready to buy?

Edit: Nevermind, I had missed the link to the For Sale thread in the OP.

Re: Add datalogging to any LPM

I got my Arduino data logging add-on from Arglaser. The driver for the new COM port came from here, Arduino - Software
I have hooked it on my existing Ophir and after installing the driver it works. :D
The red LED on the board lights on and starts to collect data from the sensor and sending it throught the USB cable. The Skylaser PL532-700 was the testlaser and here are the results.
I am very happy with this add-on. I am now figuring out how to fit the Arduino board in my LPM case.

Re: Add datalogging to any LPM

Just to make sure I don't misunderstand,
I'm Interested in seeing how this is hooked up to the Ophir. How are you powering the sensor?
Pics?

Re: Add datalogging to any LPM

Wow! The difference in the graphs are really neat, you can see the minor instabilities in power because of the response time on the Ophir :D

@Seoul_lasers I believe Blord is using two 9V's to power his Ophir.

Re: Add datalogging to any LPM

Here is how I install it.
LPM%20Ophir-10.jpg

Connecting the add-on to the wires of the Ophir head. The -9 Volt line isn't used.

Any suggesting how to wire it better ? Maybe using the 6V 4x AA block for the Arduino instead of the 9V block.

Yes, second that opinion too. WOw!! I like what I'm seeing already.
I can't wait to get one myself.:san:
This makes the wait worth it for me.

@ Blord. Many professional panel meters run Li primary cells. specifically, CR123A cells. These last for years.
You may try using one of those on a 3v-9v boost DC/DC convertor.
Switch out the AA block and power the Arduino... could be a good idea.
