That sounds like what I'm looking for. The ones 0-like sells are bare but anodized would be fine too. The project idea I'm toying around may end up in a clear housing so anodized would look nice. I'll be sure to contact you when I get ready to start it.

LOL. If it makes you feel any better when I built my first 445 laser I spent a lot of time building it because I didn't want to ruin a $50 diode. When the moment of truth came to test it nothing happened. When I opened it to do the autopsy I figured the issue quite fast. I switched the connections for LD+/- and BATT+/-. Like your experience once I figured it out and fixed it everything worked (and still works) fine. Mistakes happen. Just be sure to learn from them and welcome to LPF! :beer:











(actually I've soldered the wrong leads to the wrong point many times. That was just the first time I didn't catch it as I was doing it. :shhh:)

Hi all. Wolfman I need your "lights":can: here. Today I got 3 blitzbuck v3 and I noticed that there is a short here (but maybe not problem) to the first of them. I think that I must get out this solder from there but maybe it does not matter cuz maybe there is an underneath short there too, who knows? you :). Whatever it is I think that I MUST get instructions from you wolfman before I get out or not this solder (short).

From what I can tell, it shouldn't be a problem, but I can't see it all. To be on the safe side, I would get rid of it. Do you know which side of the capacitor the short is coming from? If it's touching the bottom on your picture, then you should be fine. If it's touching the top, then yes, it'll be a short. However, you can actually try running it to see if it will work or not. If there is a short there, it shouldn't actually damage the driver - you'll just see no output current, if I am correct. But again, the safest option is to just remove the short ^_^

Thanks for bearing with me, by the way. You just got unlucky... obviously, when you make 110 boards, some mistakes are going to slip through... and it seems you got all of them! XD

It is jumpered from the right side of inductor to the bottom of capacitor. I couldn't take a better pic from my mobile. So, like you said, it is not a problem. But... I will take your advice to remove it (safest way anyway, and better aesthetic look).
So, now I think that I could just remove it without post any question but now B.T.W. I have learn some more info about this driver.

While trying to jumper the HI-mode contacts, I think I made contact with my brass ring, attached to the outer pad on the back. :yabbem:

Is this a problem? It probably is, but I wanted to check so that I can avoid making even more of a mess while removing the joint...

for some reason i can't get my blitzbuck to go to high range. i'm stuck at about 1.8A. i'm sure the jumper is solid. checked the output using jufran's 3A test load. any ideas how to get the 2.1A i want?

I got my two blitz bucks in the mail today. I noticed something on one of them that is not the same on the other. The top of the two jumper resistors are connected with solder, is this okay?

For heatsinking, do I just heatsink the IC?

Also for anyone curious, the height of these are 4.18mm

Yup! That's perfectly fine. There is a trace underneath anyway. However, the two pins in the bottom right hand corner should NOT be jumpered - I would fix that if I were you (or send it back to Clif for a replacement).

For heatsinking... it shouldn't be very necessarily unless you are pushing more than 2A. I have a build of mine in a C6 outputting 2.05A and it doesn't require any heatsinking. But yes - if you want to heatsink it, heatsink the IC.

Oh, yes, that's no problem. There were several in the first batch that had those two parts jumpered... I didn't fix it because it would have involved redoing the whole board and it doesn't affect the use of the board.
