Hi all,
I bought a MITSUBISHI/658nm-660nm 300-400mw CW Red Laser Diode/LPC-826

Mitsubishi 658nm 660nm 300 400mW CW Red Laser Diode LPC 826 | eBay

Im trying to use two 2Pcs 3.7V 1200mAh Li-on Rechargeable Batteries...

Amazon.com: 2Pcs 3.7V 1200mAh Li-on Rechargeable Batteries: Electronics

I already have a host and mounted the diode in the aixiz housing, I also purchased a glass lense instead of the acrylic one...

the driver I have was off ebay, I wired everything up to test it out and the laser just blinks on for a sec real dim when I press the button... its like the diode isnt getting enough power or something?

this is the driver I got...

808nm 100 500mW Laser Diode Driver Reverse Protection | eBay

Im having trouble finding a small cheap driver that will work with this, maybe I should use different batteries? ... any help would be great, this is my first build...

thanks!

Try one of these drivers

Drivers : Mohgasm LLC, Have you experienced one lately?

Edit: the linear driver would be good at 428ma or 478ma which runs off of 2x 3.7v batteries, or the ben boost mini which runs off of 1x 3.7v batty

Edit 2: scratch the benboost mini, they are not compatible with red diodes

Edit 3: IMHO pots (potentiometers/variable resestors) are crap, you should just get a fixed value driver

What did you set the current at? The driver you ordered has a pot, so you can set it...

Edit: Did you put the battery in the correct way? The driver is set up for a case positive diode ie it regulates through negative side

The driver regulates through the negative (the spring on the driver board is negative) and the case positive. You can still use it, but you need to isolate the case or host from the diode. Ie use an anodized heat sink that isolates the diode and module from the case positive host. You then just pick up the positive at the pill and wire it to the pos pin on the diode.
