Default A spacer solution

Hi LPF,

Now I've got a charger that really only charges 18650 batteries and others around that size, and I have a few lasers that use 16340s only. So a simple solution, since I only had 1 charger, is the use of Buckyballs as spacers. I'll let the pictures do the talking

Completed Spacers:

Note that using these may lead to your batteries not being fully charged, as the magnets seem to absorb some of it, however in my case, it is a mere 0.05V loss. Not a big deal, but just letting you know

In my charger:

Constructing one of these is easy Just make sure you have a wad of buckyballs on hand and make a couple rectangular prisms.

First, make a ring of magnets. The length of the ring depends on how long you need your spacer to be.

Lets say you want it 30mm long, which is approximately the length of 6 buckyballs. So you make a string of magnets 24 buckyballs long and ring it together. This is because the end shape has 4 cylinders, so 6 * 4 = 24 magnets needed.

Then flatten the ring so you get a 2 * x strip, where x is double the desired length.

Turn this into another ring.

Flatten the ring!

And you can finish it off with electrical tape like I did, or leave it as is if you want to be able to adjust them.

Kyle

why dont you just place 2x 16340 in one slot?

someone correct me if im wrong but cant you stack 2x 16340 in one slot and it just takes longer to charge?

Ah I see. Yeah I guess this would be more of a solution for people who don't have that kind of stuff

if you are interested in getting one, you can purchase one for as little as $10. it will do every battery you could ever want to use; AA, AAA, C, 18650, 10440, 16340, 18350, 22650, etc......

Looks good! I'll have to get one sometime. For now, I'm scraping up $$ to build another laser, so this will wait a little
