Default Re: Oh wow.. a dead driver arrived?

I'm actually familiar with that driver.

Seems like the inductor chipped off, but shouldn't affect performance. Just make sure the coil doesn't unravel.

Should not be a problem. I have one of those drivers that also has a chipped inductor (spray? is it a translation fail?) and it runs fine.

@Zeebit: Yep it is.. googletranslator ftf.. ._.

EDIT: So.. the driver is rated at 1,2A with 3,7-18V and I tested it with 4,4 Volts (3x1,5V Batteries) and I just got 0.34A? Do I need more Power (V)?

How did you test it? Were you using a dummy load? If so, how many diodes were selected?

You need a test load. Something to simulate the diode. Just hooking it to a multimeter will tell you nothing.
Member jufrain sells adjustable test loads that I highly recommend. Very useful, very well built.

You need a setup like this:

Well, you don't need the o'scope. But I'm actually testing the same driver here.

Default Re: 0.34A but i bougth it for 1,2A?

The inductor needs that ferrite, and without it, the inductance is lowered - potentially a lot. This will cause excessive ripple in your current. Your multimeter will not show this (unless you have a true-RMS meter in ACV mode I suppose), but it can over-current your load as a result. I recommend either replacing the inductor, or at least gluing it back together. Regular superglue will work.
