Re: The SimpleDrive2 - Very easy to set! Drives red out of a single li-ion!

Are you looking to make money from this, or just to get enough interest to sustain the runs/group buys ?

Of course I'm not planning to work free, but I plan to have my cut very small.

Well, if the driver is a *business* idea, then I think you'll need some solid performance and testing data behind it before anyone would considering stocking the driver as a "product".

If you're doing this as a "community project", then I think you can get away with selling it for a tad more than it costs, to cover your assembly time, and the community will test them for you.

But I don't think you can have the *best of both worlds* ;)

Exactly. More like community. I predict a feeler in my future.

Thats Nice :D especially since you can just set your current by bridging two pads :D

Goodwork i would love to see a company like Moderx, Hightechdealz or stonetek etc carry them :)

Hey,

I've been away from this thread for a bit - wanted to ask a clarifying question:

What current can these run REDs at from a single li-ion ?

I did a test a few days ago with a LM1117 driver setup for 430mA with a 3V dummy load @ single li-ion voltages with a 2A(Max) bench PSU. I imagine this driver will have similar response:

4.2V = 430mA
4.1V = 420mA
4.0V = 410mA
3.9V = 400mA
3.8V = 380mA
3.7V = 360mA, really starts dropping after this.

Notice that even at 3.7V it can still provide 360mA@3V ... that is amazing.

My driver does about 380mA at the 8x/LPC setting, which is safe for both diodes. I'm pretty sure that things will happen the same way as in jib77's test.

Also, FEELER!
