Thats what im searching for.
All my lasers drop power after time. Im using one of the best reviewed of DX.
(the fire red ones from trustfire with 2400mah)

I search for batteries i dont care how much they cost, as long they dont make my lasers drop in power when they drain.

IMRs dont sag as much, but they generally have half the capacity, i.e. you'll be changing batteries twice as often.

Really, with a laser, the voltage shouldn't sag that much. I'd say go for a protected name-brand cell, or if you are good about checking your batteries' voltages regularly, you can save some money and get unprotected cells. Larry here sells new Sanyo cells, which I quite like.

As for "name brand protected cells," I'd suggest AW, Redilast, and Callie's for 18650. They all use name-brand cells and add a protection circuit and wrap it up to make a finished product.

Capacities are often indicative of the cell's discharge capability. General rule of thumb for 18650 is 2C. So, a 2200mAh cell has a maximum safe constant discharge rate of 2*2200=4400mA, or 4.4A. 2900mAh cell can do almost 6A.

Most lasers we use here don't draw more than 3 amps unless you are using a battery that is getting close to dead and using a boost driver. If you are fine with shortened runtimes, I'd say go with an IMR 18650. Otherwise, get you one of those 2900mAh protected cells from a trusted vendor.

And avoid ____fire batteries in the future, if at all possible.

If the power is sagging, you have either chosen your driver or your battery arrangement poorly.

Yes, you can pay more to Larry, AW, Callies, or redilast, but you know that with them you will get what you paid for. With "cnqualitygoods", all you know is that they come from china and are claiming to be sanyos. At $6 (assuming free shipping), it's not a bad deal. But if you get a fake, then you didn't get what you wanted, didn't get what was sold, and now have a dud, firestarter, or old junk and are out $6 that could have gone to a real cell.

Now, if some people have bought these and actually did a review and verified that these are indeed Sanyo cells, that would be different, and if you decide to buy these, we would appreciate a review for that reason ;-)

I have seen fake Sanyo NiMH cells, same packaging and everything, just about. Seems like only a matter of time before they continue to try to profit with Sanyo's name in the Li-Ion arena.

Edit: or were you saying DON"T buy from cnqualitygoods? I really can't tell, you forgot to put words in your post...

Yeh, I see where your coming from. There have been reviews on them but no one has actually tested their capacity. If I end up buying a few, I will test the claimed 2600mAh. Oh yeh, shipping is around 7 dollars aswell.

Now, if some people have bought these and actually did a review and verified that these are indeed Sanyo cells, that would be different, and if you decide to buy these, we would appreciate a review for that reason ;-)

It seems like the Chinese are copying whatever they can find to make a few bucks these days, but, there is no evidence to say that these cells are fake.

There are a couple of reasons your lasers are dropping in power.

1. Internal resistance lowers the output voltage going to your driver.

or

2. The capacity of the cell over a longer time causes the output voltage to sag.

Here is an independent CandlePower forum cell power test to look at:

The Samsung 3000mah cells I sell, did very well in that testing.

What's the website for AW (or wherever it is they are sold)? I've heard really good things about them. I'm using Tenergy brand protected 2600mAh cells from Amazon, and they're working rather well for me, but I'm not using a boost driver and my laser is only 200mW. I'd like to get some real good quality ones for when I get my 1.2W 450nm Rifle.

Or sanyos.

When I get back on a pc I will give you a link to a cheap source of LEGIT aw cells.

thanks for that minireview link, lazerz, they look exactly like sanyo. If they are fakes, they went through a hell of a lot of trouble to make them look like that, because they look real to me.

You are from The Netherlands. A Dutch site Samenkopen.net has also Sanyo 18650 batteries for sale. If you are ordering other electronic stuff you can take the 18650 along with the order. I bought two 18650 and they are Sanyo red 18650. And the internal resistance is much lower than the ***fire brand.

thanks those look sexy. to bad it doesnt say anything about how well they hold their voltage.
i emailed the guy.

EDIT: all 18650 batteries i have say to be 3.7V. while these AW's are 3.6V. this is not good for use with lasers?
EDIT2: but i just tested a 18650 with my multimeter and it reads 4.14V LOL.....works perfect though.

you might want to read up on how batteries work.. there's something called OCV and voltage under load..

The nominal voltage is ~ average voltage from full charge to discharge.

Original lithium ion were 3.6 VDC.

Next came 3.7 VDC cells.

Newest cells are 3.78 VDC (Samsung & other 3000mah cells)

Higher voltage performs better with boost drivers.
