What is the way to recheck your driver output after you soldered it to the diode?. I have a PHR-803 I set for 100mv. I'm using 3 10440 600mAh batteries 3.7V each. It doesn't seem strong even when i focus with my 405-G-1 lens. I think my driver got messed up and I want to recheck it without unsoldering the diode from driver. Batteries are fully charged total of 11.6 volts.

Since you are using three 10440's I am assuming that you are using a linear driver. If so, you can simply measure the current between the rear battery contact and the host. Set your DMM to mA. Place one lead on the back of the battery. Place the other lead against the host body. Read the current. Be careful. The laser may light (depending on the resistance).

If, however, you are using a buck/boost driver, this technique will NOT work

Also, bear in mind, 100mW of violet light does NOT "look" very strong/bright

Peace,
dave

I'm using the RKCSTR driver. I'm not educated with the difference between linear and the buck/boost yet. It was a kit I put together. As you can tell by my post I'm still learning. Thanks for all the info everyone is giving me.

The Rkcstr is a linear driver. Just follow the directions above to measure the current as it is.

Peace,
