So I ordered a Build your own kit thing from SL as they seem highly reccomended, it included all laser components and goggles battery and charger.

Is that going to be sufficient or do I need to look into getting another charger and batteries?

Its a 300mw red laser fyi.

Also if I need a new batter/charger please recommend one.

UltraFire are the cheapest batteries and are not recommended, however they should be OK in a 300mw laser, in more powerful lasers you may have short battery life. Also that charger only charges one size of batteries and is also cheaply made. My first charger was similar or the same. I recently purchased my third charger and its the only one I use now. In my opinion this is the best charger: http://illuminationsupply.com/chargers-c-48_51/efest-luc-v4-charger-p-972.html#.U3Gedfk7ssA I have also purchased batteries from the same site as well as on Amazon.

Check out the following thread for some recent info on 3 good charger options:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/3-charger-review-nitecore-i4-fenix-c2-efest-luc-v4-88819.html

That thread covers the one PiRSquared linked, the Intellicharger I4, and the Fenix ARE-C2, with links to some more extensive reviews on another site.

I am really happy with the Intellicharger I4, which can usually be found for under $20. There is also a I2 version (2-bay instead of 4-bay) for under $15.
