The larger #26650 cell does have some advantages in high power lights and lasers.

Some nice hosts for #26650 cells are hitting the market.

The ICR 26650 would probably be the cell I would stock . . .

since it can deliver 8 amps and has a higher capacity than the INR cells.

It does need a higher current charger.

Yes that extra current capacity is very handy, well i should say should be very handy .I have tried three times to get them into Australia and three times they never arrived i got my money back. Other batteries arrive 18650,14500,10440,16340 but the 26650 keep dissapearing. They seem rather hard to source as well. I have a 8500 lumen 7 led XML T6 torch that needs them but i just cant seem to get them into Australia.ideas?

I have to ship my lithium ion cells in a piece of equipment for them to pass postal inspection.

The Chinese shippers have many cell shipments returned for that reason.

Notice this just posted shipper quote:

All mail items entering the China Air Mail processing are now subject to x-ray screening.

Edit: They are now rejecting mail shipments containing lithium ion cells.

Another pain in the Butt i kept wondering why half my batteries don't arrive from China ...its a conspiracy against laser owners if they cant stop us getting lasers they make it damn hard to get batteries, fortunately i got a heap of the usual sizes before this new crack down. I still haven't got my 26650 after 3 times ...thank god i got the rest before now .....cant a man have a hobby without the rest of the worlds nanny governments being in my face ...( a cargo plane crashed in sept 2010) because of a lithium battery explosion) which was the start of this happening.

First post, woot! Do you still have a few batteries in stock?

I still have Panasonic 3400 mah cells in stock,

and the brand new Panasonic 2900 mah NCR18650PF,

high discharge cells.

These PF cells are also safer due to the manganese additive.

lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) offer lower energy density,
but longer lives and inherent safety.

giving the longest run times.

The new 2900mah NCR18650PF cells have a safer chemistry:

nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC),

and will deliver more charge-discharge cycles.

The NMC cells also can deliver 10 amps,

vs 6.8 amps for the 3400mah cells.

I got my 20R's today. I'm doing a slow charge since they
seem to get warm. I'm up to3.9 Volts now.
They are slow to charge at 300 mA.

They should be cool with a low IR.

Let us know how they perform under your laser load.

They look to be good cells for over 10 amp current demands.

I still like the Panasonic 3400mah for under 6.8 amps

or the NCR18650PF 2900mah cells for under 10 amps.

The old girl lives again !!! These cells are---
33.8 Volts no beam
29.6 Volts @ 15 AMPS!! and it burns!!
I'll run them a bit and recharge them again.
15 AMPS!!! that's 0.035 Ohms per cell
not accounting for contact losses.

These should take less time to charge, I think, based on this post:
Test/Review of Samsung INR18650-20R 2000mAh (Green)

I am beginning to wonder if your charger is acting weird. I don't have any high power cells on hand, but I don't remember them getting even noticeably warm. With low IR, they should charge up pretty quickly, maybe unless the charger skips the CV section of Li Ion charging algorithm

I charge my gently used Sanyo UR18650FM bare cells at 1A setting on an xtar wp2 II, and they never feel any different, they just feel the same temperature as cells that aren't being charged. I do not have a thermocouple, and don't know the average amount of human error when testing by feel, so take this anecdote with a grain of salt, it could just be that they heat up by an unnoticeable amount.
