They are officially 4.2 VDC cells.

Panasonic has shown some testing at higher voltage.

Wow, so officially they are 3400mAh @ 4.2V charge voltage. If you can, you ought to test the capacity at the same discharge rate but with a 4.35V starting resting voltage. I'm wondering how much extra capacity can be gained this way ;-)

I saw some capacity tests done.

The unusual results at 4.2 and 4.3 VDC were within 100 mah.

Panasonic does state more cycles at 4.2 VDC.

Must be due to the new "high density nickel" construction.

Jirik over at CPF just posted some test results for these cells:

The 3400mah Panasonic actually exceeded capacity spec (3464mah). . .

That is a very good cell.

For us linear driver folks, it's interesting to note that the voltage tapers off a little sooner than the 2600mAh sammie, another 4.2V cell, but for the sepic folks, the increased capacity is a no brainer.

The brand new 3400mah Panasonic cells have arrived here in Dallas.

I have added them to the cart in my signature below.

Tested the internal resistance of these 3400mah cells today:

They recorded a very impressive 55 milliohms

(lower than any other cells I have tested,
& less than many add-on protection circuit boards)

They do not come with button tops from Panasonic.

I can solder a 1/16" tall button on the positive terminal of the cells,

if that would work for you.
