OPEN SOURCE: "MAGIC" Polarity Correction

I want to make some of the neat things I've created over the years available for others to use/enjoy/ignore/whatever ;) So I've decided to make these neat creations open source, and am releasing the Eagle schematic and board files. They're free for anyone to do with as they see fit!

If you want to say "thanks", donations are welcomed via Bitcoin at: 1JLVnAaLpM4kqsJj639adgghpRnspzHDnL

These are the "magic" polarity correction (not just protection) driver add-on boards that I teased here:

and that Benmw (through CajunLasers) had for sale, discussed here:

They only use component, an IC called the DMC3021LSD. It currently sells for 68 cents on Digikey, and you need 2 per board. The circuit is similar conceptually to a bridge rectifier. However, these don't drop voltage the way bridge rectifiers do (they drop only around 60 mV per Amp).

The IC can be sourced here:

Enjoy!

Wow.
Amazing indeed, very nice work. I can defiantly see this being used on all lasers in the future. And to freely distribute the circuit is a nice contribution to the forum. Thanks

This could surely be sold to a company if you saw fit, but having it open source is much more honorable.

Very nice. On resistance is very low so these shouldn't waste much power.

These will come in handy with the 1W 520nm and 3W 445nm diode builds.

I've used these on 2 builds so far. Word of caution when setting these up using a boost driver for high current diodes the magic board has a pretty good drop out so figure that into
your settings while dummie loading it up.

You're supposed to use them on the driver input, not the output to the diode / dummy load.

On a boost driver sucking in even 3A of input, the VDrop would be under or around 0.25 V

Very nice! Datasheet indicates a maximum Ids (current) of about 7A, that should cover most builds just fine.
