He is out of both MicroFlex and MicroBoost drivers. He had a buyer from eBay clean him out.

He has ordered up more to be made, but the turn-around on them is about a month

Hunker down for the long haul

Oh I really have to disagree with you here.

There are a ton of low priced drivers that can do 1A or more, other than the o-like option.

- Jib77 sells a 1.3A driver based on the LM1117, and my sense is that it would be a solid choice
- The Groove 2 Driver is (probably?) also based around the LM1117, and it's rated for 800mA, but can probably do 1A + (?)
- There's the $1.99 DX driver. I used it with 2x Lipos in my "Blue Ninja" build to get 1700ma

Even if you meant boost drivers specifically, I still think there are lots of good options.

- There's a "rayfoss style" (that's what I'm calling it) driver very similar to the O-Like driver, and I believe it can actually deliver on the 1A+ mark.
- Plus, there's the NJG-18 based drivers from DX, KaiDomain, and now the american electronics site (forget their name, but it's in that thread, and their owner is fantastically helpful and pleasant to deal with). At ~$5, this one is a steal, and absolutely delivers on the 1A + promise.
- I believe some users have also started testing out the Shark Boost (correct name?) LED driver with some success, for 1A +

Anyway, I really think there are a lot of options if you're willing to get creative with the drivers, and break from routine. I've found the process of creating and working with new driver ideas to be the most rewarding part of this process :) Even exploring the LDO ICs like the 1117, 1084 and 1085 has been a whole ton of fun!

I have a Flexdrive that has been sitting here, pre-set at 1A for a while now, and I haven't had any temptation to use it yet. I think there are a lot of neat alternatives, and ones that don't require shelling out almost the cost of a diode :)

Believe me man, i actually looked and the only reliable boost driver able to deliver over 1A for sure happens to be the DX and kaidomain drivers, and kaidomains has had mix reviews as some people from shin's and lazerer's thread about those drivers (from kaidomain) has had issues. I have ordered the DX ones TWICE, one was lost and they havent issued a refund, the other ordered two weeks later is now at its 3rd month in transit. so i would hardly say its a reliable source.

I have been using the sandwich shoppe's BB Nexgen boost driver and its great but its kinda stuck at 1080mA MAX so thats kind of a letdown as 1A is no where near the limit of 445's.
also, i believe that these LED drivers arent that great at powering 12x's because of the higher forward voltage, havent tried one, but it didnt seem too stable when hooked up to a 6x and hitting 220mA at 5.7V. I have been looking into replacing the IC's on these sandwich shoppe drivers as the boost variety seems to be limited by the MAX SWITCH CURRENT i believe it was 3A or 4A but after the boost of voltage that equals max 1-1.1A output.

I got all these 12x sleds i ordered from china and now no microboosts to run them. THeres Flex's being sold elsewhere, but i really dont think its safe to make them push a 12x at 500mA since the Vf would be like 6.3 and arent the flex's max Vout is 5.8ish or so?

@rhd : heycan you give me the link to the american electronics site with the $5 NJG based driver, i will order some today if they got it in stock. I really wish I or others on this forum can established a completely tested and proven (and reliable) source of boost drivers (other than Lava's... no offense kay?), as 1 cell 18650 builds are very popular and i personally prefer that over 2 cr123's.
will keep looking and maybe start making videos <--- pain in the a** for me.

I have wondered that but I have built a few 12X units with flexdrives and have not had any problems with them.:)

dang it... thats gonna make me wanna buy those flex's from ebay now...:banghead: <- me because the guys selling it for 38 bucks.
