Yeah its a hefty driver, but it feels good quality, i'm going to hook up a test with my rare A150 diode on sunday to see how it performs.

Thanks for the pictures..i guess it is kinda big, but at the same time, flexdrive is VERY small lol..

Ok the data is in.

Hooked up to a freshly charged 2800mAh Sanyo 18650

Batt = 4.21v (4.10 under load)

Current draw from battery = 1.1A

Driver vOUT = 4.32v

Driver I out = 740mA

p OUT new A150 diode = 693mW

O-Like say it should be 1.1w , as you can see its well below. Dissapointing.

Ped;

The driver is not delivering enough current. It needs some tweaking.

In your photo in post #17, you show a 1R0 resistor. That is most likely setting the voltage or current.

Try a parallel 4.7 ohm resistor across it. That should increase the current to the diode.

any news on this driver?
because its nearly the same driver used in the waterproof 1W blue lasers with 18650 battery.

I have one of this laser myself and want to tweak the power a little bit.

well, yes and no.

It may be that my diode was screwed , ive ordered more off DTR which will be here shortly and i'll repeat the tests.

I opend the rayfoss 445 1W.
below you see the board.

I changed the 1Ohm resistor for 0.5Ohm and got a current draw of 1,75A instead of 1,15A.

Didn't measure the diode current because i don't want to unsolder the pressed in diode.

No I'm not sure.
Its just a good value for the diode, should be about 1.1A.

If it will last i don't know. I make a 5-10min runtime test and if the driver dies I replace it with a new one.


EDIT:
Made a 2min run. Current raised up to 2.3A (battery is not the best). Host got a little bit warm (with 1,2A no warming in 2min).
I think further testing is required.

my new o-like driver board arrived today.

did some testing:

input:
4,0v 1,59A = 6,36W

output:
997mA 4,11V = 4,10W

efficiency
=64,4%

Hmm, not as efficient as i expected but the current is good!!
didn't change any resitors.

I will get a flexdrive soon to compare... (or are there already efficiency measurements in this forum?)

Yes but won't that combination of wrong current and voltage damage your 445nm laser diode??? at 997ma it should be at 4.5 volts not at 4.1...
