I've got some questions about a recently acquired o-like CR2 batter/charger, any help is appreciated:

1) The lights on the charger are confusing, I tried to find the reviews on dealextreme for what looked to be the same charger and half of them said red meant charging and green meant full. The other half said green meant charging and red meant full.

What I have determined is that the light turns green if I plug it in empty or place the batteries in it while it is not plugged in. With 3.3v reading on the batteries the light turns red when I plug it into an outlet which brings me to the next question:

2) The batteries have 3.0v listed on the green plastic coating, but my multimeter shows they are charged to 3.3v right now. Are they overcharged or actually 3.7v nominal and undercharged?

3) Just how safe is this charger? Should I be worried about it?

3.7-4.2 is what you should expect on a rechargeable li-ion battery.

If i'm not home I never leave a lithium battery charging, but generally they are fairly safe if they are charged properly. (Li-Poly on the other hand are like bombs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpUXuEg3fNE )

Well, after some further testing/searching I did determine that they were in fact 3.0 volt and nearly full as the charger turned green about 20 mins of charging. I'll post my conclusions in case anyone has these concerns in the future:

-The batteries are 3.0v variety, not 3.6v. On a full charge read 3.32v, just above what they were out of the box.

-The charger seems to have multiple models as people posted conflicting information about the LED colors. The color the LED turns when the batteries are placed in is the "full" color, it should change to the opposite color when plugged into the outlet (charging color). My model was green with the batteries inserted, red with the charger plugged in, then back to green when they were full.

-I was at first worried the charger would overcharge the batteries and damage/overheat them as it is obviously fairly cheap. It does seem to auto-stop charging when the light changed.

-The charger has only one channel so both batteries must be the same charge level when inserted to be fully charged together. They can be 'topped off' individually by inserting only one afterwords.

I hope this information will help out someone else in the future, it was a bit confusing to me at first since the charger/batteries had zero instructions or even a diagram on them.
