I'm having real issues identifying genuine 18650's.
Obviously safety is my main concern but I'm trying to find a 18650 that is rechargeable and protected whilst under £20.

You could go as low as 3-4$ if you search on ebay...but they are not quality chargers thus they break up easily...

Okay thanks, I have decided to keep with my current future charger. I will purchase those batterys, just one more question. Is it possible to overcharge them and ruin them? Apparently optimal charge time is about 6 hours, but if I leave it on overnight thats about 8 hours. Is this bad?

Well most chargers nowadays stop charging when battery voltage goes to 4.2V...but to be on the safe side I'd suggest you to check the battery's voltage every now and then! :beer:

If you want the safest Panasonic cell . . .

then I would go with the 2900mah cell.

It is not protected,

but it has safer chemistry:

lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC),

and has passed UL1642 safety standards.
