Tom. Just for clarification... What diodes will this drive and what is involved in building with them?
Obviously 445s are good. I'm confused about the single Li-ion and grounding as well.
Lets say compared to a linear, what considerations need to be taken using this as a build?

Hey Tom. I know you're asking foulmist but I think I can help answer some of your questions =)
Compared to a linear driver, this driver will be treated just like any other boost driver (no power supply unless hooked up to a load, and only use one 3.7v li-ion).
In addition, you'll need a battery contact board to wire this driver up to, as it doesn't have a positive contact, but the benefit of this is that the entire bottom of the driver can be directly heatsinked onto or inside a pill. See HERE for how I wire this driver up to the battery contact board.

np! And yeah you will want to test the battery contact board for areas of continuity before soldering to it

my next revision is ready.
I wanted to lower the ripple to 10mA max but I had some problems similar to the ben boost when a cap is added between Vout and FB so I had to remove it.. Increasing the output cap showed no further improvements. But there is a ~70uF capacitance at the output. And 44uF at the inpunt.
attached is the manual and scope images for 3 different currents. Lower the current lower the ripple. At 1.75A and above ripple is around 60mA which is ok for the 445nm diodes anyway. At lower currents you can get a 35mA ripple and lower. Those are numbers in boost mode. In buck mode for red diodes the ripple is extremely low. Less than 10mA which is pretty good.
No startup spikes and oscillations.
930mA startup
930mA ripple
1.75A and above startup
1.75A and above ripple
1.25A startup
1.25A ripple
Cliff will be having the 930mA versions and DTR will be having the 1.75A available in few days.
