Has anyone used a scope to check what the voltage and current-outputs actually look like on these drivers?
As long as they have a coil in there they should be able to work correctly, but the pwm frequency is what concerns me.

but i cant regulate current on these ?

Nor do i even know how to attach them, i have some here, but dont know how to attach them,

anybody want to do a "n00b" a favor and draw out how i use these ?

thx in advance guys ..

hey everyone I have been following this thread since the beginning and I always wanted to ask someone who has one of those with the mode board removed...

doesn't it look exactly like this one .. 1.5~4.2 3W Cree Circuit Board

if so I have one of these and they are barely doing 600mA

@ whitewhidow you should remove the mode board and then on the main board there should be a "sense" resistor (it's value should be R**)
* stands for digits

It should be something like R200 or R220 or anything like that.. in order to regulate the current to a desired one you should change this resistor with a correct value..

I = V / R

I am not sure for this but on most drivers like this the V is 0.25V
so the formula should be
I = 0.25 / R you can easily check this:

~connect the driver to a dummy load (if you have one if not look how it is made .. it is very simple)
~measure the current across the resistor with a DMM (digital multi meter set on voltage reading)
~then see what is the value of the resistor on the board and calculate the the feedback voltage V = R * I of the driver's IC
~then use the formula from above to calculate the resistor value for your build I = V / R

as for wiring the driver - it's very simple:
~RED wire goes to diode's positive pin
~BLACK wire goes to diode's negative pin
~on the bottom of driver you have 2 circles the one in the middle is the positive terminal that goes to the battery + and the outer circle is the ground (goes to battery -)

hope i helped there

EDIT: i am not sure that a dummy load would work correctly here and you may get incorrect readings of the current... try to find a small lightbulb or something else than can handle above the current you want to use as dummy load (one with the correct voltage or close to it should be used) .. connect it with a 1ohm 5W resistor in series and measure the voltage drop across it to figure out the current...

check the simple diagram to understand better:
