I need your helps guys. I bought a 1400mA driver for my 500mW Mitsubishi diode and DX sent me this driver. It has 5-mode output which I don't like. I have already figure it out to make it Hi/Med/Lo 3-mode but I need just plain single mode 1400mA output. Maybe bypassing the Atmel chip ?
Has anybody succeed to make the mod ?

Modding to 3-mode is connecting the two pins on the lower right of the Atmel chip.

Do you know which pin to connect ? Or just desolder the Atmel ic and connecting all the loose ends.

Make this jumper indicated with the red line:
attachment.php

You could also connect it to the D1 pad directly left to the positive if that is easier.

Yup that works Blord, I did that on the exact same driver (but accidentally) & it had no more modes :p

That right. I did the mod and the driver has only 1400mA output.
Thanks for the easy mod.

Btw anybody want to buy these drivers ? I bought 20 drivers and I only needed one :D

Haha, why did you buy 19 extra?

I'd be interested if someone can figure how to increase the output to 1.8A and keep the modes.

Cheers!

You can stack another AMC7135 ic on top of the existing ic for a 350mA extra. Each 7135 counts for 350mA.

DX was only selling in quantity of 20 :D

Hmm... couldn't you have gotten this?

It's 3 bucks and it doesn't have any modes.

Cheers!

Edit: Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I'm quite horrible with soldering and don't know much about how to wire it and whatnot. :) Thanks though.

These are not suitable for 1.8Amps with the blue diodes I beleive, these have a voltage drop (very very low) aswell & blues take ~4.5V a li-ion is 4.2V fully charged so it wouldn't work for those... Unless you put 5V in :)

Ah, gotcha. These aren't able to take 8.4 volts, I suppose?

"6V max"

You can probably take a few diodes to drop voltage, then take that output to power your laser diode and amc's, then drain the laser diode into the output of the amc.

Chip may get hotter than usual.

unless you find a 4 x AA (1.5V alkaline) host then this is not for 445's ;)

Let's put it this way: you can make it work if you already have them, but there are better options.

Hmm... I've been looking for a 445 driver that outputs 1.8A with 5 modes.

Cheers!

Sorry for posting in such an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one. Does anyone know how to set this to 2 modes? All I use is low and high, never touch strobe, SOS, or medium...
