Default Re: Micro USB Rechargable Li-Ion Batteries from Fenix

3500 mAh cells in 18650 form factor exist, so they could be using them, but i have no way to tell this since i've never seen the product.

It doesn't matter too much though, as long as the cells are good quality they could be 3200 or 3400, there is some tolerance in that either way.

I think the major problem with the product is that they actually use a standard sized cell and add the charging circuitry onto it, making the whole thing too long to fit in many applications.

For many things it would be better if the external dimensions matched those of 18650 or 16340, with a somewhat smaller size and capacity cell in them - use time would be reduced a bit, but at least they would fit.

The latter is especally true when you use 2 cells or more in series - for 2 cells the extra space would be full centimeter in length, somthing that most hosts will not fit.

Just an update for anyone interested in this type of re-chargable cell; while looking for some 18650's for an upcoming build, I came across a couple of other manufacturers/sellers of these re-chargable batteries.

One of them is the "Lumintop LM34C 3400mAh 18650", and the other is a "McArmy U18-34 3400mAh 18650", both of these have been rated as 'good', by a respectable battery reviewer. -Link-
As with the Fenix brand 18650 re-chargables, these cells are also quite long at 70+ mm.

Edit: Doing some reading on the Lumintop LM34C and realized that it's built with the Panasonic NCR18650B, no wonder it has been rated well.

Thanks for the up date and info. Any chance you came across any rechargeable 18350's seems those are the one I use the most in the smaller builds, the ones I use as EDC's .

Bob, I have not seen any 18350's yet, but if I do, I'll post an update here.
They're probably not as common of a size as either the 18650, or the16340's, but hopefully they may be next in line for the built-in USB charger treatment.

BtG; I appreciate your effort and willingness. Really satisfied with those Fenix 16340 rechargeable you brought to our (my) attention. They seem to be holding up quite well.
