LM317 output problem

I made LM317 driver and when i wanted to test the amps using multimeter and 1 red LED i got nothing on screen.
Tried all combinations and no amps are shown.
When i tried testing amps that battery gives i get the numbers.

Also my Pot stopped working for no apparent reason i spin it left and right but no change .

Draw a schematic of the situation. You are giving no information. We need info about :
- what laser diode are you using
- desire current of diode
- resistor ?
- pot ?
- what battery ?
- etc.

So LM317 is used.
Adj pin is connected to Pot and 2 10 ohm resistors
Then the adj is connected to back to the output ofcourse as all daedal circuits say.
Then the negative and positive is connected with 1N4007 and 47uF 35 v capacitor and then to the RED LED for testing.
Problem is i cant see amps.
When i tried at battery to LM317 i see how much amps lm317 is taking but cant see how much LED is receiving

You are using a red LED to test the driver for your red laser diode? :confused: Don't do it that way. Build a test load and use that to set the current. A red led is totally different than a laser diode and will not work.

Just to be sure, u should make a simple lm317, I am making my first build and have been testing alot, this is the best way to get results, as far as i can tell from my testing..
You dont need extra 1n4007 diodes, potentiometer, 2x10Ohm resistors..

Now the next thing you'll want is to make a test-load by using 4x1n400x's in series with 1-Ohm resistor(1W~5W)..
This will show you how to set the desired current and measure it.

Here it is everything you would want to know about making/testing LM317 based drivers.
Dont get confused with difference in components from one Lm317 based driver to another, People often modify Lm317's to fit their diode needs, you just have to be keen on calculations..
Hope i answered the question, and you should really do some more reading, there is a lot of information that you would need to have to make a laser, People here have been answering the same questions many times, every single person comes and puts a silly question which has already been asked.. No Offense, Infact im glad people ask questions, Keeps the forum alive and kicking.. Way to go bud..
