I'm new to building my own laser. I have a dt0811 out of an Xbox 360 Hd DVD player. And I'm looking for ways to make a driver. I have a joytech eVic electronic cigarette that is not being used anyomre and was hoping I could get some help make it work as a driver. The eVic is a really nice Ecig that can adjust the voltage and the watts on it.
I also don't have much info on the diode I have dt0811. So if anyone has any idea what I have to do to get it to work.

I want to use the 510 connection so I can thread on the diode and off

IIRC majority of ecigs have voltage regulation in them. You need current regulation for a laser diode.

There's a thread in the other section on vaping that has a post were someone did something similar.

However, they used an m140, which is a heartier diode and may be how it worked.
