So a while back I posted a thread on getting some laptop battery packs from Batteries Plus Bulbs. They had a recycle bucket with old laptop batteries. I asked if I could have them and they said sure.

I pulled out several and took them apart finally last night.

I got 24 good 18650's

If anyone wants some I'd be willing to trade some for a driver. See the BST section for the proper thread on that.

This thread was simply opened to show you how to get some free ones yourself though.

If there was any damage on them from opening the pack I disposed of them. If they didn't test at 3.6v or higher I trashed them. Many of them were nearly still fully charged. Some were just flat out 0v and got disposed of as well.

I'll post what types I was able to get as well.

Think any time I've done this they've had solder tabs on the batteries too, which is useful for some projects. IIRC it's easy to remove the tabs if you don't need them - pretty sure they are just spot welded on or some such.

Yup they did have tabs. I removed them with a pair of dikes.

FYI: The electrical tape is on there because i have 24 of them in a LiPo safe bag. Safety Precation. I'm a bit paranoid possibly but I feel like there is less chance of them making any contacts.
