High V Battery, 1 Ohm R Test Load

I have two questions:

How accurate is a test load composed of just a one ohm resistor?
I calculate the current by measuring the voltage across it.

Is there a battery the size of the 22600 battery that provides at least 5.5V?
I need something that will fit in an MXDL host and will power a 1.65 amp X-Drive V6.

-Thanks

Depends on the specs of the resistor. Check out the tolerances listed.

Most are within +/- 10%, loosely speaking.

Here's an example: 1.0 ohm 10W 10% Wirewound Resistor (2-Pack) : Resistors | RadioShack.com

You're looking at 2x li-ion cells for a buck driver (x-drive) setup.

Finding batteries half the size of 22600/22650 will be tricky. The closest you could get would be 16340 or 18350.

I suggest you an x-boost or a similar boost driver.

Good luck!

lawl @ 5.5V being high voltage

It's "high" compared to most of the rechargeable batteries we commonly use
with lasers.

I tried 2x 16340s, they provide the right voltage, but don't fit in the host.

Maybe 2x 15270s (CR2 size)? The battery size of these is indicated by the number (DxL, e.g. 22600 = 22mm x 60mm). Don't those MXDLs take 3x 10440s as well?

So 3x 10440s in series might work?
Is there a special holder for that?
