Good enough batteries?

Hi LPF,

I'm planning on building a M140 build and I'm also planning on using a Guidesman host from Cajunlasers. So I looked at the options for drivers and found two possibilities on Cajunlasers (I'd like to rather use them as I don't have to pay extra shipping as I'm buying almost everything from one supplier):

  1. X-Drive V6 (buck, 1.65A)
  2. FMT V2 (boost, 1.7A)
Now my problem is that I only have two battery options that I can buy locally (can't use DX, shipping takes waaaayyyy to long) :18650 or CR123A or CR2. Now the X-drive doesn't get warm, etc. and will work great, BUT the capacity of the CR123A's are pathetic! Pulling 1.65A from them is going to give me a very short runtime. So I started considering a boost driver to use a single 18650, but on the FMT V2 datasheet I saw that it pulls a huge amount of current, and the batteries I'm going to use looks like the standard UltraFire China batteries (HERE or HERE). Do you think that batteries would be able to handle that current, or will it cause a huge explosion while I'm holding the laser? :thanks: in advance for all your help!

Thanks! I see in the description of the host that it takes a 22600 battery (couldn't find it on Wikipedia's list of battery types HERE), not a 26650  Maybe a typo?

The 22600 cells are kinda rare. The Guideman host normally use 3x AAA and in that space a 22600 cell fits fine. Any xx650 will be a little too long. You will need to modify the pill for more battery space..

But it is able to take a 18'650' battery without any modification, so won't it work fine with a 26'650'?

If it fits the 18650 then the 26650 shouldn't have a problem. The Guidesman host can take larger diameter batteries.
I was under assumption that the Guidesman and the Hotlight hosts are comparable. The Hotlight has problems with 18650 cells but apparently the 18650 fits the Guidesman just fine.

Thank you so much for you help Blord! +1 when I can! :thanks:

EDIT: just saw that the largest battery in the description is a 25500 battery, and the 26650 is about 1mm thicker in diameter. Do you guys think it will fit the host, can anyone maybe try this for me? I appreciate all your help! :thanks:
