Hi, I have a microbost driver that is fried but i can see on the board the two components that look burnt, does anyone know the value of those 2 components?

Depends what they are? Picture?

That will be a tough fix unless you have smd soldering skillzzz

sorry, forgot the pic. I can read the value of the first one.

edit, I've been soldering since i was young, my father was an electrical engineer so he taught me a lot. but i'm not too sure about the smd components. it;s worth a try, i already ordered another driver and this one is dead.

Sorry. I cannot imagine the scenario in which those two components fried. What happened?

Peace,

i wired it and the leads at the diode were touching, i did a battery test and a regulated voltage power test supply. so the diode works, it;s the driver thats fried and im not sure if those are the only 2 components that fried or if more will be damaged due to the output being shorted.

The black one is a .51 ohm resistor. The other I cant tell. It could be another resistor or possibly even a fuse I cant tell.

No way to know the exact tolerance without knowing the manufacturer and part number. It would be somewhere between 1-5%. I'm guessing also between 1/2 to 1 watt.

Did you get this driver with the current preset? The reason I ask both areas you are saying are fried is where you would solder to set the ranges for the current.

I bought it from jayrob in an 18650 kit. I thought it was a microflex but I found out its a
A microboost. It was preset at 1 amp by him. When powered the diode just led's or omits a very faint beam. When the diode is hooked up to a battery it lases. I can get SMd components and etch circuit boards

If you want to target 1A again, you can solder 3 regular 1 ohm resistors in parallel to each other and use the set to replace the 0.51 large resistor you have indicated. Before applying power you will need to disconnect the laser diode and re-set the current using a test load (turn the current pot down first).

You might be better off to PM him. Or contact him through his site. He wanders through here every once and a while but that may be too late to switch your order before he checks back.
