I am currently building a 1w 808nm portable laser. I have everything but a driver. I've seen a few using search but they're all big and I was wondering if any would fit inside the o-like 9mm module, it would be more convenient. So if anyone knows or want to suggest a driver, please post :)

P.S. Before anyone asks, yes I am aware of the dangers of an infrared laser and I do have appropriate goggles.

rkcstr (about thumb nail size) and dr lavas (about middle finger nail size) will fit.

The bigger question is what is your power source?

????
Dr lava's drivers are 9x12 mm, a 9mm module is less than 9mm on the inside.
Are you suggesting shaving the edges enough to fit the driver plus insulation from case?

The LM317 will also do. I'm not a big fan but that totally depends on the power source he intends on using.

A fine metal file and a steady hand will do. May need to tape it if he takes off too much.

Ok, both solutions would work.
I were just a bit annoyed that you omitted the "modifications" at first. :)
If it connects to batteries through a spring on the driver he would either have to expand the hole in the endcap, or omit it, saving some grinding down of driver. It will be a little tricky to ensure heat sinking of the driver.

I built my IR laser with the cheap LED driver.

IR LD is can-positive and Vf is about 2V. So this amc7135 driver is a good match.
3 or 4 of amc7135(300-350mA) with one Li-ion battery will work fine.

the amc7135 is 17mm large, will not fit in a 9mm module.

You can cut the amc7135 driver into rectangular shape. (especially 2x amc7135)
I built 500mW 5.6mm 808nm LD in aixiz with 2x amc7135 rectangular board and woked fine.
I think it is possible that 2 of rectangular boards(each has 2x amc7135) can be containable.
Microflex or rkcstr is common in negative, so there is an insulation problem with the host.
It is against the heat-sinking.
