Here is the thread started by Daedal a while back on the "DDL Driver" or the "LM317 Driver" which handles up to 1A but with the new 445nm diodes being run higher than 1A you could swap out he LM317 with the LM350 which handles up to 3A.

For DIY people, there is also the stan_ham driver:

What about linear amc7135? These are great for the inexpensive red diodes. I have one of these driving an LOC at ~350mA.

amc7135 is a ground-side regulator, and will only let 350mA pass through. Paralleled, you can let multiples of 350mA through.

inexpensive and easy to find, too.

testing still needs to be done on the cleanliness of the 'output, but it's a viable option?

Just a pair of linear drivers, very low dropout, current feedback.

More to come

EDIT: is just my impression, or all the die4drive, stanham, flexdrive, and so on, are basically derived all from the old "op-amp / mosfet" current sink configuration ? ..... asking just cause, basically, they look similar to the one i use for labbies, took from a datasheet years ago .....

Okay I suppose I should contribute, uhh... oh Yeah. Here is a good LM317 calculator I use. It calculates the resistor values for current regulation or voltage regulation.

Uhm ..... the first one does not fit nor in an aixiz module, nor in a labby cabinet (and it's expensive, cause require food also if you don't use the laser) ..... and the second one, can be fitted in a labby setup, but require too much muscular efforts for work good .....

Default Re: Driver Compilation Thread - All Drivers In Just One Thread!

There are also other DIY drivers - LM3410-based drivers such as Eudaimonium's Spark driver, and op-amp based current sources. The LM3410 can be run as a buck, boost, or buck-boost converter depending on how it's wired. The op-amp based design would be closest to a linear driver but as HIMNL9 said, probably deserves its own category.

This is my first post to this forum after a fairly thorough lurking period.
I have 2 nagging questions so far.
Am I missing something or are you guys??
Why is there what seems to be a conspicuous absense of driver circuits based on the TPS63000-Q1 minimal component, high quality, high efficiency, buck boost converter??

thanks for the guidelines and feedback.
I have been unsuccessful acquiring samples.
the first person who prototypes this will become the new expert on it.

addendum..
description: advanced, high efficiency, single inductor, buck-boost converter chip
brand: not prototyped yet
version: n/a
type: buck/boost converter 10 pin qfn powerpad package
voltage input range: 1.8-5.5dc
startup input voltage range: 1.9-5.5dc
output voltage: 1.2-5.5 adjustable
current ranges: up to 1.2amps out at 3.3v buck mode with Vin= 3.6-5.5vdc
up to 800 ma out at 3.3v boost mode with Vin > 2.4 vdc
switching current limit: 1.6-2.1 amps, 1.8 amps typ
other features: up to 96% efficiency, power save mode available, thermal shutdown protection, minimum addon components, soft start, small package size
notes: advanced design will need specialized heatsink and soldering methods
approx price (chip only): $2.35 usd for 1000 unit quantity
pdf sheet containing circuit, parts list, and full parameters:
http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps63000-q1.pdf

and yes, drlava, i did lurk my way thru the flexdrives etal.

I'll edit again shortly after doing some more research.
